Polly Richards

Polly Richards is an interpretation and masterplanning consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the sector. During this time, she has worked as a senior interpretation manager for major museums and cultural heritage organisations, and as a freelance interpretation and masterplanning consultant. She has the skills and expertise to help guide your project team through the detailed development and delivery of any exhibition, gallery, museum or heritage redevelopment project.

Trained in theatre design at Nottingham Polytechnic from 1987-1990, Polly worked for 8 years as a freelance theatre and film designer before moving into the museums and heritage sector: first as an exhibition designer and then delivering interpretation. Alongside this, she gained a PhD in 2003 for her research on the contemporary masquerades of the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa. Combining creativity and design with academic rigour and analytical thinking, Polly’s unique combination of skills and expertise enables her to bridge the communication gap that often exists between academics and designers. Through a highly collaborative approach, she envisions and delivers audience focused projects in a range of museum and heritage settings.
