Black Cultural Archives

Polly delivered the interpretation strategy for the nation’s first centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain.

Black Cultural Archives is the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain. The creation of a permanent and secure home for the archive up at first-floor level enabled the BCA to build upon the strengths of existing collections and to continue their primary focus on acquiring ephemera relating to stories and histories of Black people in Britain.

Polly led the creation of an integrated strategy that provided the visiting public with a new resource at the heart of Brixton town centre.

Polly worked closely with both the client and design team to create the HLF stage 1 bid and the concept design approach enabling the broadest range of visitors to benefit from this unique new resource.
